The subject of this discussion is neither sacred nor a cow. So… take that for what it’s worth. Feedback and then some ranting.

All right, I feel a little responsible for the content of this cast, having recently encouraged people to sign up for Holly Lisle’s How to Think Sideways class.
I agree that the website itself is not exactly elegantly designed, but I thought it was worth the money I paid for the course.
I understand that you took a look at the website and decided it wasn’t for you, and I can appreciate that. Did you take a look at the sample lessons she had available there? I think it’s not exactly fair to judge the content of the lessons with out looking at the content of the lessons, if you know what I mean.
If you did look at them, and it wasn’t for you, that’s fine. I totally understand.
If you listened, then you know the content of the lessons are not at issue here.
I don’t need to review the content of the sample lessons. As I said, I’m sure the lessons are valuable, and there’s a lot to learn. I’m positive that Holly Lisle knows how to write, and she may be a good educator.
What I take issue with is
1: The site looks like a spam-fest. “Me Large Print, Spend Money!” Do not like.
2: Testimonials from people no one has ever heard of do not excite me. Where are the people who have built successful careers from Holly Lisle’s courses? She’s been doing it for some time now. These are writers of a similar level to the ones I’ve met in Jim MacDonald’s “Uncle Jim’s Writing Class” on the Absolute Write forums.
3: I’m pretty sure Holly Lisle isn’t passing out state secrets here. I’m thinking her advice/teaching is equal to what other, more well-known authors, give away for free.
This is, of course, my opinion. You are free to disagree with it.
